Tour de Mountains coming in June: The Alleghany Wellness Center is sponsoring a bicycle ride on Saturday, June 18. Three routes will be offered: 25, 40 or 60 miles. Early registration is only $30. Counties around us offer bike events and this is an effort to establish an annual ride in Alleghany County. There will be rest stops every 12 miles or so. If you have a bike and are tempted, sign up and do the 25 mile ride. It's great exercise and it would help get this event off to a great start. Click for application/brochure or call me on my cell 336-200-2468.

HAPPENING EVERY WEEK: Museum highlights Education: The Alleghany Historical Museum display for April highlights education. Old and newcomers will probably enjoy looking through the annuals on display from the early 50s. I certainly enjoyed finding out what some of our older citizens looked like as teenagers. And there's more to see. They are open 10a-5p every Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The Museum is at 7 North Main Street, across the street from the Courthouse. There is no admission charge.

Weather permitting, there's still lots to do in our community. Where provided, click on the links for more information.
