CENSUS JOBS AVAILABLE
Every 10 years, our government counts the number of Americans. The 2010 count has begun and census jobs are going begging in Alleghany County. These jobs offer flexible hours, payment for training and weekly paychecks. To learn more about a job with the census, call 866-861-2010.

EASTER EGG DECORATING CONTEST
Ginny's Place, next to Jerg's Patio in Trojan Village Shopping Center, is holding an Easter Egg contest for ages 6 through 10. Eggs need to be boiled and decorated and brought to the store by Saturday, March 27. Prizes will be awarded Saturday, April 3, and the eggs will be displayed at the store. LEARN TO PLAY THE DULCIMER
A Dulcimer Workshop at the Alleghany County Library is taught by Jeff Sebens and sponsored by Arts Council Saturday, March 20, 10-11:30a for absolute beginners; 1-2:30p for somewhat experienced participants or those continuing from the morning session. COMMUNITY LENTEN SERVICE
Sparta United Methodist Church is hosting the Community Lenten Services. Rev. Bob MIller, pastor of Sparta Methodist, will present the message on Wednesday, March 24, at noon, followed by a light lunch at 12:30 in the fellowship hall. 336-372-4441

TWO GREAT SHOWS AT THE DOLLAR
Shag the night away Friday, March 26, for a $5 cover, beginning at 7:30p. A DJ will be spinning the shag tunes with a little slow dancing and other music thrown in for good measure. WOMANLESS BEAUTY PAGEANT TO BENEFIT RELAY
The annual Womanless Beauty Pageant to support Alleghany's Relay for Life will be held in the Sparta School Auditorium, 450 North Main Street, Saturday, March 27. ALLEGHANY CELEBRATES QUILT MONTH
Alleghany Quilters Guild is going all out to celebrate March as national quilt month. There will be month-long quilt displays at the Alleghany Library and in the Blue Ridge Business Development Center atrium. Also in the Business Development Center atrium, an "Old-Fashion Quilting Bee" Monday, March 29 at 3p (call 336-372-5838 for a list of supplies).

>> Driving Loops: Brochures for three driving loops of the Alleghany countryside are available at the Alleghany Chamber of Commerce and Visitors' Center.
