VOTE FOR JAKE THE FARMERS WONDER DOG
Jake, one of two border collie mascots at Farmers Hardware, is in the running for the Bissell Most Valuable Pet photo contest. He needs your vote to win. I can testify that he's a great dog. On more than one occasion, Larry was giving me a hard time (you know how Larry is -- he just can't help it) and Jake backed him down. And who could resist those sad eyes. Go the Jake's page to vote. You will be asked to create a password account and a confirming email will be sent to you. Be sure to check your Junk Mail and Spam files if it doesn't come shortly. It's a good cause. If he wins, Jake is going to donate his winnings to the local animal shelter program to help less fortunate dogs who don't have someone like Larry to pick on.

DANCING WITH THE ALLEGHANY STARS RESCHEDULED
NOTICE: BECAUSE OF UNCERTAIN SATURDAY WEATHER AND ROAD CONDITIONS, THIS EVENT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED TO A NEW TIME: We know Alleghany can flatfoot and we know it can clog, but can our couples kick up their heels? It's only $35 per person to see Jeff and Reba Cox, Bryan and Terry Edwards, George and Lauren White, Carol and Bob Black, Brett and Patsy Jarrett, David and Sherry Edwards, John and Angelia Miller and Rocky and Tammy Proffit dance their way into local lore (do you really want to miss this?). Denise Kimry of the Dance Place is choreographing the dance routines and promises an entertaining show. It all begins at 7p at the Silver Dollar Music Park. Traditional music favorites Wayne Henderson and Helen White open for the dancers. Hors oeuvres available. Beer and wine are available for purchase.
