Local dog lover in Our State: Libby Bagby is known around the county for her fondness of her Plott hound. Now she's known around the state. Our State magazine did a nice feature on Libby in their November issue. Check it out. It begins on page 52.

Have you voted today to Raise the Roof. Only a few days left? Keep up the good work. Help the Alleghany Wellness Center with the Pepsi Raise the Roof Campaign to replace the canvas and vinyl cover over their pool with an insulated roof. To be awarded the grant, your vote is needed EVERY DAY! (Yes, you can vote once a day during October.)

Since this campaign started last week, the Wellness Center has advanced from somewhere back in the pack of vote-getters at number 382 to in the top 82 -- that's advancing 300 places. KEEP IT UP ALLEGHANY. We want to be number 1. Please follow the link below and vote (email me if you have problems with the link):

But don't stop there. We are a small county competing with much larger communities. We have to work harder. Tell your friends. Post this to your Facebook page. Tell your friends to vote for our Wellness Center roof. Tell them to tell their friends. It's the only way to make this happen.

Wellness Center Wreath and Tree Raffle: Tickets for the Christmas Tree/Wreath raffle are available at the Alleghany Wellness Center front desk for you to pick up and begin selling. Tickets are one for a dollar or six for $5. The drawing the Nov. 23. 336-372-2944

TRUNK OR TREAT: Halloween is just around the corner and that means our big celebration in Crouse Park Sunday, October, 31, 4-6p. There'll be trunk or treating, costume and vehicle decor contests, food, games and music. Adults can take part in the fun too, dress up your trunk for the festivities, add some candy and you're ready to go! There will be a costume contest at 5 p. for all ages. To register for Trunk or Treat, call the Chamber office at 336-372-5473.
