IT'S ALRIGHT TO GET LOST AT FODDER TROT
Fodder Trot Trail, Alleghany's first corn maze opens Friday, Sept. 3. This seven acres of winding trails through the tall corn is the project of David and LeAnn Gambill and is located one and one-half miles north of the center of Sparta on NC 18. Activities include pumpkin choose and pick, a straw jump, hayrides, apple launcher, giant slide, and more. Learn about all the new fun you can have at their website or call 336-372-MAZE (6293). Better still, pay them a visit this weekend. Tell LeAnn you learned about them from the Chamber.

A FEW VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED FOR 75TH CELEBRATION
The Chamber is seeking volunteers who would be willing to man Alleghany County's display at the Blue Ridge Parkway 75th Anniversary Celebration. The display will be at the Blue Ridge Music Center. Volunteers need to be familiar with the county and are asked to commit to a 2-hour shift. We still need volunteers for Friday, Sept. 10, from 11a to 6p and Sunday, Sept. 12, from 1-3p.
This is a great way for you to show your pride in Alleghany County. Thank you to everyone who has already voluteered (we have Saturday filled up!)

PARKWAY KICK OFF NEXT MONDAY AT CROUSE PARK
It's no secret that the Parkway celebrates its 75th Anniversary Sept. 10-12 at Cumberland Knob and at the Blue Ridge Music Center. Monday, Sept. 6, at 5:30 p.m. at Crouse Park preview Alleghany's role in the Parkway celebration. Grab a lawn chair, and drop by for a brief ceremony and Parkway memorabilia. Plan to stay and hear the Crouse House Pickers. The Parkway had its beginnings in our backyard and holds a special place in local hearts. Learn more about the events Sept. 10-12. PARKWAY 75th ANNIVERSARY SPECIALS
The following businesses are offering 75 themed specials in honor of the Parkway's Anniversary Celebration Sept. 10, 11 and 12. See a schedule of the anniversary events at Cumberland Knob and Blue Ridge Music Center, and stop by these merchants. Most specials are good Sept. 6-12, but check with individual business for details.

>> Driving Loops: Brochures for three driving loops of the Alleghany countryside are available at the Alleghany Chamber of Commerce and Visitors' Center. Each loop is a about a leisurely hour's drive and includes information on historic points along the way. The Chamber office is in the rock building with the green awning (58 South Main St., Sparta). Our foyer is always open and a brochure is always available.
